A nine-year-old girl was shot and killed when a gun, which a 14-year-old boy was reportedly playing with, went off at her St James home on Friday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Kalia Bailey of a Norwood, St James address.
Reports are that about 3:30pm family members heard a loud explosion coming from a room in which Bailey and other children were playing.
Bailey was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The juvenile, who was allegedly playing with the gun, is said to be a family friend who came over to Bailey’s house. He fled the scene following the shooting.
He is now being sought by the police. More details later.
