Two days after six persons were shot and injured in the May Pen Market in Clarendon, criminals have struck again with fatal consequence at almost the same place in the now volatile town and parish.
Reports are that on Monday afternoon, a man was shot dead in a bus park in May Pen, which is close by a section of the market.
The police reported that about 2:40 p.m., alarm was raised among people doing business in the town centre, when several gunshot explosions rang out.
The police were called and the body of a man was found.
He was later pronounced dead.
On Saturday, six persons were shot and injured during a gun attack in the town’s market.
A day after, on Sunday, a man was killed at his home in Cow Pond district, May Pen.
He was identified as Horacio Williams, otherwise called ‘Ratio’ or ‘Sambo’, who is believed to be about 42 years old.
Reports from the May Pen police were that about 3:00 a.m. they were summoned to the area where it was alleged that men had gained entry to Williams’ house and beat him before throwing him into a tank at the premises.
Williams was removed from the tank and taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Days before, at least two other persons – two businessmen – were shot dead in separate gun attacks. One was attacked and shot while supervising road work along a main thoroughfare just outside the town, while the other was shot by gunmen who invaded his home.
