American reggae band Groundation— HARRISON Stafford was an eight-year-old Jewish boy attending Hebrew school in northern California when he discovered Jamaican popular music. Now 36, he is a member of Groundation, a journeyman band that has helped put American reggae on the map.

Musician Phil Everly, the younger half of the Everly Brothers, died Jan. 3, 2014, in Burbank, Calif. The duo perform in this 1965 photo. He was the younger half of the influential vocal duo and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers.
