Cops Ordered To Step Up Hunt For Wanted Men And Illegal Weapons

Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams has instructed high ranking members of  the Force to increase operations in the hunt for wanted men and illegal weapons.

As part of  a major push to stem the crime wave, the Commissioner issued the instructions during Wednesday’s crime control conference with Divisional Commanders and other senior officers from across the island.

“It’s going to be increased presence on the road …..we are increasing our target of cirminal networks across the country. We are going to be using the anti-gang legislation, much more than we have ever used it….” said Assistant Commissioner of Police Ealan Powell.

Police Commissioner confident

The Commissioner of Police has expressed confidence in his team – stating that the murder rate can be brought under  control

“We are in a position to roll back some of the murders. I am confident that we will see through this period …the coming election campaign period and the Christmas holiday period. We will see through this period in as safe a way as possible.

Concerning a  request to appear before a Parliamentary committee, the Commissioner  said he’s prepared to  answer questions about his crime reduction strategy.

“I am going to go to Parliament as requested and state the issues ….” he stated

Commissioner Williams is scheduled to appear before Parliament’s Internal and External Committee on November 10.
