Elephant Man’s immigration declaration under police investigation

The police say they are investigating allegations of false declaration made to an Immigration officer by popular entertainer, Oneal Bryan, otherwise called ‘Elephant Man’, upon his recent arrival in the island from Europe.

The Health Ministry has stated that based on the spread of the dreaded coronavirus, mandatory health protocols have been implemented for persons arriving locally after recently traveling to specific countries, especially in Europe, where thousands of persons have been affected.

Reports are that Elephant Man arrived at a local airport from Brussels, Belgium, and was required at immigration to declare the countries he had recently visited.

It is alleged that he falsified the information, and did not declare all the countries he had visited while overseas.

The artiste himself later declared in a video which he had done and posted to social media, in which he apologised to the people of Jamaica, the Health Ministry and local health workers in general, that he only declared the country from which he actually arrived.

The police, in a release, said they will be working closely with the Ministry of Health and the immigration department to determine the appropriate action to be taken in respect of Bryan’s declaration.

Additional information is to be provided as the investigation continues, the police stated in the release.
