Gun attack in downtown Kingston leaves road worker dead, two injured

A police probe is ongoing into Thursday’s gun attack on a roadwork project along Port Royal Street in downtown Kingston which left one man dead and two others injured.

The deceased man has been identified as 25-year-old Stephen Hoffman of Gold Street in downtown Kingston.

According to reports, men employed to the project were carrying out their duties when a vehicle was driven up.

Armed men exited the vehicle and opened gunfire, hitting three of the workers.

The hoodlums then fled the scene.

The wounded men were assisted to a hospital, where Hoffman was pronounced dead.

The other men were admitted for treatment. Their conditions are not known at present.
