Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton says the field hospital which was opened in Black River, St Elizabeth, yesterday, has seen about 50 patients over the last 24 hours.
Tufton made the disclosure while speaking at a press conference at Jamaica House on Thursday.
He said a second field hospital is to be mounted in Falmouth, Trelawny, within the next two days, in collaboration with the Spanish Government.
Tufton has also informed that talks are ongoing with the Barbadian Government regarding a field hospital to be set up at Cornwall Regional Hospital in St James.
In addition, a field health centre is to be placed in Whitehouse, Westmoreland, in collaboration with Samaritan’s Purse, to serve some communities in the hilly areas.
