LARENDON, Jamaica — Detectives from the police Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit (PLPU) are this afternoon investigating the theft of over 40 goats from a farm in Longville Park, Clarendon.
Police say that about 7:45 am this morning a farmer noticed that over 40 of his goats were missing, including lactating and medicated animals.
Head of the PLPU, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kevin Francis, is urging meat distributors and wholesalers to be vigilant when buying meat and are to ensure that the meat is stamped and certified.
Francis also encouraged the public to be careful in purchasing goat meat, as some of the goats were recently medicated and some gave birth as recent as yesterday.
The police are appealing to anyone with information that can be of assistance to contact the Longville Park Police at 902-5047, 119, Crime Stop 311, 811 or the nearest police station.
