KINGSTON, Jamaica – United States President Barack Obama a short while ago made a late-night visit to the Bob Marley Museum in Kingston, after he landed at the Norman Manley International Airport on Wednesday evening.

The Hope Road facility, which has been in operation for nearly 30 years, recently reopened it’s doors after undergoing a structural upgrade.

The museum is reported to attract some 35,000 visitors per year, and President Obama has now been added to that list.

Bob Marley became a superstar in the 1970s, which was a fruitful period for roots-reggae. The legendary One Love singer lived at what eventually became the museum on May 11, 1986.

Marley died of cancer at age 36 in May 1981.
