Salted fish, the imported Jamaican food staple and a central ingredient in the country’s national dish
– ackee and saltfish – is soon to be available in a new form from LASCO Distributors, which will be adding a canned version of the normally dried item to its product line.
A post on its social media page on Monday indicated that LASCO will be making the canned salted fish available on shelves this week.
The post said the company’s rationale for introducing the new form of the “quick and easy treat” is to satisfy the on-the-go life of many consumers, and described the tinned salted fish as being affordable, convenient and ready to eat.
The LASCO post also indicated that the canned salted fish has no bones, does not need to be picked, and also does not need to be soaked of excess salt.
