ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A student pleaded guilty to knowingly possessing identity information for people living overseas, breaching the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions Act), when he appeared before the St Elizabeth Circuit Court on Wednesday.
He is 18-year-old Sanjay Johnson, a student of Shrewsbury district, Brompton, St Elizabeth.
Johnson was held on Friday, December 19, 2014 during an operation carried out by the St Elizabeth Proactive Investigations Unit (PIU) along with other police personnel.
Reports are that about 9:30 pm, the team executed a search warrant at premises where Johnson was seen. During the search, lottery-scamming paraphernalia was found in a wallet owned by Johnson. He was subsequently arrested.
A social enquiry report was ordered by the judge.
He is to reappear in court on Friday, March 13, for sentencing.
