SUGAR MINOTT TO BE HONORED BY THE JAMAICA CANNABIS CONFERENCE, AT THE UWI THIS SATURDAY!

Sugar Minott—

INFLUENTIAL singer Sugar Minott’s commitment to legalisation of marijuana (ganja) will be recognised at this weekend’s Jamaica Cannabis Conference.

The three-day event which takes place at the University of the West Indies’ (Mona) Undercroft, starts today.

Minott died in June 2010 at age 54. Many of his songs including his 1978 breakthrough hit, Oh Mr DC, showed how the ‘street’ ganja trade helped the ghetto family survive.

Two other Minott hits, Herbman Hustling and No Vacancy, had a similar theme.

He will be honored on Saturday during the conference’s plenary session.

The Jamaica Cannabis Conference will address a number of issues, particularly the legalisation of ganja and what it means for a

viable industry.
