Taxi mounts sidewalk, mows down pedestrians in HWT; two hospitalised
Two people have been hospitalised in serious condition after they were mowed down by a motor vehicle in Half Way Tree on Wednesday.
Reports are that about 4.30 pm, the driver of a Toyota Probox motor car being used as a taxi lost control of the vehicle, and it ran off the road and mowed down two pedestrians along Eastwood Park Road.
The damaged windscreen of the taxi tells a horrific tale.
The taxi driver reportedly fled the scene after the accident and is still on the lam.The injured persons, a woman and a man, were rushed to hospital and admitted in serious condition.
Police have launched a manhunt to locate the transport operator.
