KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaicans all over the US tri-state celebrated another stunning performance by songbird Tessanne Chin who secured one of three spots in the final of the NBC show The Voice Tuesday.
Tessaane’s march to The Voice final was propelled by strong support from dedicated fans and well wishers in the Diaspora who called, tweeted, texted, purchased her song on iTunes and use social media to vote.
The Door Restaurant and Groovin radio in Queens hosted a “View & Vote Party” for Tessanne that drew strong support from her Jamaican base.
Interestingly other Caribbean nationals and even American fans turned out, proof of the broad based support for the Jamaican.
“Tessanne delivered another stellar performance tonight (Monday). What a voice!” Andrea Bullens of Groovin radio told OBSERVER ONLINE.
“We just need everyone to vote for her so she can make it all the way to the top” she said.
Also attending the Door party was Jamaican High School Alumni President Karlene Largie. With thousands of alumni members across the US, her association organized a ‘Global Twitter Party’ to encourage members to rally support for Tessanne.
Moments after Tessanne’s stirring performance Monday, members of New York based cultural group Braata Singers kept the festive mood going, performing a few Christmas carols for Tessanne supporters.
A few blocks away at the Liquid Bar and Lounge (LBL) in Valley Stream, fans decked in “Vote For Team Tessanne” T-shirts cheered Tessanne on at a #TeamTessanne #TakeOverMondays party.
“I am just so proud of how Jamaicans here in New York have supported Tessannse during her journey on the Voice so far. We must keep the momentum going so she can win it all for Jamaicans at home and here in the Diaspora,” said Steven Willliams, co-owner of LBL.
Tessanne fans also poured into the Jamaica Breeze Restaurant, in Queens, Mingles Café in the Bronx, Moments Café in Elmont and the Fish Eye Bar and Grill in Brooklyn to vote and tweet for the Jamaican songstress.
Tessanne on Monday night’s show displayed control and poised during her emotional rendition of Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ hitting the big notes to the noisy approval of The Voice audience.
