Two men shot dead during police operation in Vineyard Town  

Police officers are still maintaining a presence in Vineyard Town following the shooting death of two men in the area this morning.

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has been called in to investigate the shooting death of two men during a police operation in Vineyard Town, Kingston this morning.

The police say two firearms were also seized during the pre-dawn ‎operation.

According to police reports, a team of officers went to the area about 1:30am and while there, they were attacked by gunmen.

“While in the area, men in the area opened fire at the police, the fire was returned and two men were later found suffering from gunshot wounds,” said a senior officer.

The men were later pronounced dead at hospital.

A large contingent of police officers is still maintaining a presence in the area.
