KINGSTON, Jamaica — The American, Elliot Caine, who caused the closure of the US Embassy in Kingston last week after he threw a bag over the security wall, was today ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation.
The order was made when the matter was called up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court today. The order was made in his absence as he was not brought to court.
The next court date is May 11.
Caine hurled a bag over the wall of the US Embassy on April 1, about 7:45 am.
Officials quickly secured people who were around and examined the contents of the bag. No threat was found. Normal operations resumed some hours later.
Caine was charged with public nuisance, resisting arrest and assaulting police.
