Montego Bay businessman shot dead

A Montego Bay businessman was shot and killed by a lone gunman in the second city on Wednesday afternoon.

The businessman has been identified as 51- year-old Winston Chue of a West Gate Hills, St James address. He was reportedly the operator of the Consumers’ Meat Plus supermarket on Barnett Street.

Reports are that shortly after 2:00 pm, Chue was standing beside his motorcar along Miriam Way when he was approached by a man who pulled a firearm from his waist and shot him.

The shooter then fled the scene on foot.

The businessman was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Freeport Police are investigating.

Meanwhile, scores of people have taken to social media to issue tributes to Chue, as well as condemn the continued blood letting in Jamaica.

“RIP Winston, Jah know mi feel it…when will the killings stop?” wrote one man on Facebook.

Another man added, “Montego Bay continue to murder its citizens, when will it stop?… RIP Winston Chue.”
