Nine Shot And Injured In Rose Town & Maxfield Avenue 

The police are keeping a close watch on sections of  Rose Town and Maxfield Avenue following two incidents last night in which nine persons were shot and injured including a four year old child.

Six of  the nine remain in hospital where one is said to be in critical condition.

In the first incident, shortly after 9pm persons were playing cards and dominoes along St. James Street in Rose Town when two men  approached them and opened fire. Six persons sustained bullet wounds. The gunmen escaped in a car.

Two hours later men in a car attacked persons at an ice cream shop off  Maxfield Avenue.

Two men alighted from the vehicle and opened fire at them.

Three persons, including the four year old girl, were shot. The little girl was shot in the arm.

The men escaped.

Investigators are trying to determine if  the shootings are connected.

As a result of  the incidents, the police have increased their presence in the communities.
