Woman charged for firearm seizure in Westmoreland

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 35-year-old customer service representative of Galloway, Bethel Town, Westmoreland was charged for breaches of the firearms act yesterday after a gun was found in a premises that she occupied.

She has since been identified as Sherrone Thompson.

Police reports are that about 5:40 am on Wednesday, February 14, a team of officers was on special operation when an armed man opened gunfire at them.

The gunfire was returned; however, the gunman managed to escape.

The premises was searched and one 12-gauge shotgun and two rounds of ammunition were seized. Thompson who occupies the premises was arrested and subsequently charged.

She is scheduled to appear before the Westmoreland Parish Court on Wednesday, February 21.
