4 men arrested in St James as police seize 4 illegal guns 

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Four firearms were this morning seized and one man arrested in separate police operations in St James.\

In the first incident, lawmen reportedly searched patrons at a dance while carrying out a joint police-military operation in Roehampton district, Anchovy, St James.

During the search, a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight 9mm rounds of ammunition was found and Smith arrested.

One man was reportedly arrested and charged in connection with the seizure. He is 25-year-old Curtis Brown, carpenter of Lawson in the parish.

A court date is to be set.

Then three firearms and several rounds of ammunition were later found in Hollywood, Hendon in the parish.

Reports from the Montego Hills Police are that about 5:30 am, a team of officers was carrying out an operation in the area when a premises was searched.

One Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun and five 12 gauge cartridges were found in a black plastic parcel and two Bersa 9mm pistols with one magazine and 20 assorted rounds of ammunition were found in a plastic container containing cornmeal buried on a section of the property.

Three males were taken into custody; however, their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
