Jamaica’s ambassador to the United States of America Audrey Marks has scheduled a virtual meeting to address concerns and provide support for Jamaicans with Extended Temporary Stay in the United States and are hoping to return home.
With the virtual meeting aimed at assisting seasonal hotel and cruise ship workers, students and visitors, Marks confirmed intentions to, among other things, assure workers of the progress to manage the COVID-19 crisis while ensuring the institutions’ commitment to the “gradual reopening of the ports to get you home.”
Details of connecting to the virtual meeting were shared on Ambassador Marks’ Facebook page with a prompt to urge friends-of-friends to share the message with Jamaicans in the US.
“I am also asking for you to help by sharing this information with every Jamaican you know, whose return home itinerary is temporarily on hold.”
Prime Minister Andrew Holness has since endorsed the message via Twitter.

To all our seasonal hotel and cruise ship workers, students and visitors, I want to assure you we are making progress in Jamaica to add more facilities to manage the COVID-19 crisis.
We experienced a spike yesterday which will slow us a bit but we are still committed to the gradual reopening of the ports to get you home.
Until then and during your extended time here in the USA, we want to make sure you are all well.
As such we are inviting you to a virtual meeting tomorrow (April 16th) at 4 PM EST to answer your concerns and provide support where needed.
