Goat Island debate in Parliament postponed

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The debate on the Goat Islands project scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in the House of Representative has been postponed.

No new date was given.

The debate was based on a motion tabled in February by Opposition MP, Gregory Mair, seeking to have the issue referred to the infrastructure and Physical Development Committee for review.

Mair’s motion also wants the government to put on hold “any final agreement with China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) for the development of a logistics hub in Jamaica” until the House receives and deliberates on the report from the committee.
