A gun-toting man in a viral photograph, erroneously being identified as the cop who was slain in Central Village on Monday, is actually a Dominican who was gunned down along with two others in Trinidad & Tobago a couple weeks ago.
He is 24-year-old Alfredo Marchan, aka ‘Spanish’. Marchan, Venezuelan national Miguel Matillo and Trinidadian national Dillon Lewis were reportedly robbed and shot dead in the volatile Laventille area of the twin island republic on June 19. The three were said to be the victims of a drug deal gone bad.
The same photo of a gun-toting Marchan, being circulated in Jamaica now, was published by the Trinidad & Tobago Guardian in a news report.
Jamaican police on Wednesday rubbished reports that the man in the picture is slain constable, Hubert Hyman.
Hyman was gunned down on Monday night.
Reports reaching Loop News were that at about 9:05 pm, the cop, who was off duty at the time, was walking along Hamilton Drive in Central Village when he was attacked and shot dead.
“While we continue to mourn his brutal slaying, a top level team of investigators is probing the incident,” the police said.
