Jamaica Now Has 305 Confirmed Cases Of COVID-19

Jamaica now has 305 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), with the addition of 17 new cases over the last 24 hours.

The Ministry of Health & Wellness, confirming the new cases on Saturday evening, disclosed that the 17 new positives comprise six males and 11 females. Sixteen of the 17 are 21 to 59 years old.

The Ministry said additional information will be provided on the 17th new case later.

Twelve of the 17 are employees of Alorica, the Portmore based BPO, which now means that 167 of the 305 confirmed cases to date are employees from that workplace.

One is the contact of a confirmed Alorica employee, two are contacts of another confirmed case, and two are under investigation.

There are now 34 imported cases. Nine cases are local transmission with no epidemiological link.

Seventy are contacts of a confirmed case.

One hundred and sixty-seven are the local transmission previously mentioned in relation to Alorica.

Another 25 are under investigation.
