Jamaican, Colombians arrested for military weapons in Honduras

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (CMC) — Honduran security forces on Wednesday arrested a Jamaican, five Colombians, and a Nicaraguan following the seizure of military weapons.

A spokesman for the Honduran police said they were arrested in the town of Puerto Lempira, in Gracias a Dios province, in the country’s Caribbean region, where they seized three shotguns and six combat rifles from the men. They also seized a GPS device, a speedboat and several two-way radios.

The foreigners are presently in the custody of the National Police and a probe is in progress into the origin of the weapons. Honduran authorities have also asked the Migration Directorate to determine if the men were in the country legally.
