Trinidad union leaders stage candlelight march on PM’s office

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) —– Trade union leaders in Trinidad Friday led workers in a candle light march around the Office of the Prime Minister in protest of what they claim to be bad governance and corruption within the coalition People’s Partnership government.

The marchers led by the executive of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM) walked around the building on the outskirts of the capital seven times with JTUM President Ancel Roget reminding workers of the biblical message that led to the fall of Jericho.

“I want to remind them that we had a similar march some years ago and we know what was the result, he said in an apparent reference to the march around both the Parliament building and the Office of the Prime Minister during the administration of the Patrick Manning government prior to 2010 when it lost the general election.
