1,192 Murders Recorded So Far This Year 

Police figures show that between January 1 and December 26 this year, 1,192 Jamaicans were murdered.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is  says the figure is an increase of 195 when compared to the corresponding period last year.

For 2014, there were 1005 murders, the lowest in 11 years

The figures were released on Tuesday in the JCF Periodic Crime Statistics Review.

It was also reported that there has been a reduction in shootings, rapes and aggravated assaults this year.

There were 1,055 reported shootings, down by 34 incidents; 570 reported incidents of rape, down by 131; and 5 83 cases of aggravated assaults, a decrease of 114 when compared to 2014.
