Blind man who lived in ‘fowl coop’ has died

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Rosalvo Patterson, the blind man who was found living in a fowl coop in the community of Jericho, St Catherine earlier this year, has died.

Family members of the senior citizen said Patterson passed away at his recently constructed home earlier this week.

“We just want to inform persons out here that he passed away. We also want to thank the Observer for highlighting his case,” a family member told OBSERVER ONLINE.

In March of this year, the Jamaica Observer published the story of the senior citizen, who had been living in the fowl coop for five years – triggering shock among scores of Jamaicans.

Following the publication, concerned people constructed a house for Patterson and made several donations to him in a bid to appease his living conditions.
