KINGSTON, Jamaica — The US dollar traded at an average J$110.00 to one US dollar on Thursday, April 24, according to the Bank of Jamaica’s daily foreign exchange trading summary.
On Wednesday, April 23, the US dollar closed trading at J$109.94.
Meanwhile, the Canadian dollar Thursday closed trading at J$99.32 while the British pound ended the day at J$184.82.
At the end of January this year with the Jamaican dollar at $107.21 to one US dollar, 72 per cent of respondents in an OBSERVER ONLINE poll felt that the local currency would reach J$120 to one US dollar by June.
However even as the devaluation of the Jamaican dollar gallops along, with just over a month to June J$120 to one US dollar is unlikely.
