KINGSTON, Jamaica – Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller has expressed grief at the passing on Saturday of 18-year-old St Jago High School student, Cavahan McKenzie.

Reports are that McKenzie collapsed while competing in a race at the NACAC Cross Country Championships in Tobago and died on the way to the hospital.

Simpson Miller and Minister without Portfolio with Responsibility for Sport, Natalie Neita Headley visited with McKenzies’s mother and members of the St Jago High School community Saturday afternoon.

“Our grief is heightened because Cavahan was taken from us at such a young age and while competing on behalf of his school and country. The Government will lend support to the family through this difficult time,” Simpson Miller said.
