Jamaican sentenced to more than 5 years in US prison for child porn

A Jamaican man, who was caught with child pornography on arrival on a flight at Orlando International Airport in Florida, USA earlier this year, was sentenced to five years and eight months in US federal prison for transporting and possessing child pornography.

The sentenced was handed down on Anthony Carl Spence, 45, on Thursday. He was found guilty by a federal jury on July 26, 2017.

Evidence in court indicated that on February 6, Spence arrived at Orlando International Airport from Jamaica with a smart phone.

During a routine border search of the phone, agents located a video on the instrument depicting a man sexually abusing a toddler.

Law enforcement agents later located a second video on the phone depicting a child of between seven and nine years old, engaging in sexually-explicit conduct.

During an interview with law enforcement officers, Spence reportedly admitted that he had shared the videos with persons in Jamaica, but claimed that he thought he had deleted the videos before he headed to the US.

“This predator was discovered as he entered our country,” said HSI Tampa Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero.

“HSI special agents and our US Customs and Border Protection partners will continue to use our border search authorities to keep our citizens safe.”
