JDF soldier arrested in ‘One Don Gang’ probe

A member of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has been arrested in connection with ongoing investigations surrounding the activities of the St Catherine-based ‘One Don Gang’.

The identity of the JDF member, and details about the soldier’s suspected involvement with the gang, is being withheld pending further investigations.

The Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigations Branch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force said the gang is an offshoot of the notorious Clansman Gang that operates in Spanish Town and surrounding areas. Andre ‘Blackman’ Bryan, a reputed leader of one faction of the Clansman, is said to be the head of the One Don Gang.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Crime and Security, Fitz Bailey last week disclosed that 24 alleged members of the gang had been charged for offences under the Criminal Justice (Suppression of Criminal Organizations) Act, as well as with conspiracy to murder.
