ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – Students sitting the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) at the Naggo Head Primary School in Portmore, St Catherine, were yesterday given stationery supplies in preparation for their exam.

Jamaica Labour Party caretaker for East Central St Catherine, Alando Terrelonge, said in a release that he and his team wanted to do something special for the children.

He said: “There are approximately 400 grade six students at the school and we wanted to ensure that no child was left behind and that they all had their pencils, erasers and sharpeners for their exam.”

The children were very excited and thankful for the items, which, according to Terrelonge, were as a result of a partnership with the Kingston Bookshop and Campbell’s Stationery and Office Supplies.

Terrelonge also issued five tips to the students:

1. Prior preparation prevents poor performance.

2. You know your material so relax, stay focused and get a good night’s rest.

3. While in the exam, stay calm, re-read the questions at least twice before selecting an answer.

4. For your Communication Task, remember to jot down your points before writing your essays.

5. Use your spare time wisely. Go over your answers and check your essays for spelling and grammatical errors.
