An additional nine COVID-19 related deaths and 78 new cases were recorded across Jamaica on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
The deceased are a 66-year-old male and a 44-year-old female from Kingston and St Andrew addresses; an 87-year-old female from St Thomas; a 63-year-old female from St Catherine; a 70-year-old male and an 82-year-old female from St Elizabeth; a 92-year-old male of a Manchester address; and a 75-year-old male and a 64-year-old female from St Ann.
The latest fatalities bring the death toll from the coronavirus in Jamaica to 160.
The 78 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases bring the total number of cases on record for the island to 8,067. Recoveries increased by 50, bringing total recoveries to 3,481.
Of the newly confirmed cases, 45 are females and 33 are males, with ages ranging from one to 92 years. The cases were recorded in Kingston and St Andrew (56), St Ann (five), St James (four), St Catherine (two), Clarendon (two), St Thomas (two), Trelawny (two), Westmoreland (two), Portland (one), St Elizabeth (one) and Hanover (one).
There are 47 moderately ill patients and 18 critically ill patients among the 4,320 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.
