Pharmaceutical distributor rep to face court on fraud charges

KINGSTON, Jamaica — One man has been arrested and charged by the Fraud Squad for breaches of the Larceny Act on Tuesday.

He is 50-year-old Samuel James of Claremont Boulevard, Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The charges stem from an allegation that between May, 2013 and January, 2015, James, who is a representative of a popular pharmaceutical distributor, reportedly fraudulently order items from them under a pharmacy’s name without their knowledge or consent, amounting to over J$11 million.

A report was made to the Fraud Squad and an investigation was launched, which led to James being interviewed in the presence of his attorney and later charged for fraudulent conversion.

James is expected to appear in the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 14.
