RPD, MOCA investigate tax evasion, cybercrimes in Corporate Area, St Catherine

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Revenue Protection Division

(RPD) of the Ministry of Finance and the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption (MOCA) Task Force are currently on a search and seizure operations at seven locations in the Corporate Area and St Catherine to stem revenue losses from the Tax Administration Jamaica.

According to the Ministry several staff members of Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) in collusion with taxpayers, and other members of the public committed “unlawful acts” resulting in significant losses to the Revenue Department.

The operations started early Friday morning follows a year-long investigation into major tax evasion and cyber crimes, the Ministry said.
