DISCOVERY BAY, St Ann — The St Ann police are expected to resume today the search for a policeman who reportedly drove his vehicle into a makeshift pool along the beach in Bengal Estate, Discovery Bay, last week.

This, after a massive search of the area yesterday yielded naught. The search, which included the use of dogs, covered areas surrounding the beach and further inland. The makeshift pool allows seawater to flow in and out of the area.

Reports are that the police were called in after a man drove his car into the pool late last week Wednesday. The car was retrieved and documents and items that were found inside it were identified as those belonging to the policeman, who is a constable assigned to the St James Police Division.

It has also been alleged that the man was pulled from the partially submerged car, but he jumped back into the water. The police have not released his name.

Last week, the Jamaica Defence Force assisted in a search of the area, but that search, too, was in vain.
