Supreme Court strikes out ISCF attempts to block police merger

KINGSTON, Jamaica — All is now clear for the merger of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and The Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) to go ahead.

A challenge to the merger by the ISCF was struck out by the Supreme Court today Thursday, May 1.

The merger of the two arms of the Jamaican police, commonly called ‘Red Seam’ (JCF) and ‘Blue Seam’ (ISCF), was announced early March with Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington outlining the positives of the move.

But news emerged shortly after, that members of the ISCF received a court injunction to stay the merger.
