Teacher’s death leaves Titchfield High in mourning

PORTLAND, Jamaica — The Titchfield High School in Portland was plunged into mourning Thursday after the death of 32-year-old Home Economics teacher Tancia Simpson.

News of her passing shocked the school community leaving both students and teachers in tears when it was broken by Acting Principal, Monique Grant-Facey Thursday morning at assembly.

Simpson, a teacher at Titchfield High for eight years, passed away at approximately 5:00 am Thursday in the Kingston Public Hospital where she was admitted and being treated for leukaemia.

“Miss Simpson is a very loving teacher, she looked out for all her students, she was my form teacher for two years when I was in seventh and eighth grade,” Kasey Williams, a fifth-form student said of the teacher described as nice, loving, jovial and caring by all at Titchfield.
