T&T’s Prime Minister Fires Housing Minister

Dr. Keith Rowley, Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, last night fired a member of his Cabinet.

It followed media reports that she flouted Parliament rules governing the hiring of constituency staff a few years ago.
In a brief statement from the Office of the Prime Minister, Dr. Rowley said he advised President Anthony Carmona to revoke the appointment of Marlene McDonald, his Housing and Urban Development Minister.
He is also making a minor re-shuffle to his 23-member Cabinet.
Miss McDonald had come under intense pressure after claims that she had abused her ministerial power to facilitate a Housing Development Corporation home for her husband.
