Airport Employee And Security Guard Involved In Drug Trafficking Denied Bail 

An airport employee and a security guard, accused of  loading ganja onto a shipment of  yams at the Norman Manley International Airport, were denied bail when they appeared before the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Friday.

Demarlo Heslop,26, a warehouse attendant, of  Harbour Heights, Harbour View, in Kingston and  Kurt Griffiths, 33, a security guard of Franklyn Town, Kingston, were charged on Monday.

Narcotics police accused them of  being involved in drug trafficking at the airport.

They were  arrested last Friday after 50 pounds of  compressed ganja was seized at the AJAS Cargo Warehouse at the Norman Manley International Airport.
The Contraband Enforcement Team conducted security checks at the airport when a shipment of  yams and cocoa was searched and found to contain twenty-two packages of  ganja.

The items were being prepared for export on a flight destined for London.
