Apartment shooter hires attorney Peter Champagnie

Andrew Woolery, the man who shot a security guard during an altercation at Braemar Estate in St Andrew on Monday, has now retained attorney-at-law Peter Champagnie to act as his legal counsel.

“When I return to Jamaica tomorrow, I will be meeting with Mr Woolery and I will be speaking to the police regarding the course of their investigations and I will be writing to KingAlarm regarding the horrible treatment meted out to my client by their employees,” Champagnie told Loop Jamaica reporter Claude Mills on Thursday afternoon.

Woolery was previously represented by defence attorney Christopher Townsend.

The incident, which was captured on video, has gone viral.

The video footage of the incident shows Woolery engaged in a heated discussion with KingAlarm security officers about entering the property, before being attacked from behind by a man in civilian clothing said to be a security guard for the complex.

A struggle ensued between the two men and a shot was subsequently fired, hitting the alleged security guard in the neck. The injured man was rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies, where he was admitted in stable condition.

The KingAlarm officers who were present at the scene have since been pulled from duty pending an investigation
