The Constant Spring police have charged 30-year-old St Andrew businessman, Kemar Marsden, with conspiracy to commit murder. He allegedly commissioned a hit on “a close family member”.
Marsden, who is of a Grosvenor Terrace, Kingston 8 address, allegedly hired a hit man to commit the deed before the timely intervention of the police.
“Marsden has now been formally charged with conspiracy to commit murder in relation to an attempt to take the life of a close family member,” Deputy Superintendent of Police, Dahlia Garrick, head of the police Corporate Communications Unit, confirmed to Loop News on Tuesday.
Sources had earlier informed Loop News that Marsden is accused of placing a bounty on his own father, a popular Corporate Area businessman.
Marsden’s court date will be announced later.
Earlier this week, in a separate investigation, Marsden was charged with the murder of 49-year-old Gareth Forbes, an attorney-at-law, of Stilwell Road, Kingston 8, St Andrew. He was charged with murder, and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in relation to that case.
Reports are that on January 17, Forbes was found at his house with his hands and feet bound, lying in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds.
Subsequent investigations unearthed evidence that implicated Marsden; he was arrested and later charged on Saturday, March 2 following an interview in the presence of his attorney.
