KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica, in its quest to explore industrial opportunities and economic benefits from bamboo, became the 38th member of the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR), headquartered in Beijing, China.
The Ministry of Industry, Investment & Commerce continues to hold discussions with the Chinese Embassy regarding opportunities for the development of a market-led, standards-driven, Bamboo Industry for Jamaica.
On Thursday, March 6, the Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica, His Excellency Dong Xiaojun will pay a courtesy call on the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ).
The BSJ was designated the focal point for INBAR and formed the local Bamboo and Indigenous Materials Advisory Committee (BIMAC).
The Chinese Government has provided support to the Jamaican Government through sponsorship of individuals to attend training and development sessions in China.
