No COVID-19 death recorded on Sunday, 67 new cases  


For the first time in two weeks, no COVID-19-related death was recorded for a one-day reporting period, according to the numbers for Sunday.

The overall coronavirus death toll in the island remains at 2,410.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is also reporting that the island recorded 67 new cases of the virus over 24 hours up to Sunday.

The newly confirmed COVID-19 cases brought the total number on record for the island to 91,536.

Meanwhile, there were 154 recoveries on the day, bringing that tally to 63,096.

Notably, the the island recorded a 7.7 per cent positivity rate was based on the samples tested on Sunday.

Of the newly confirmed cases, 46 are females and 21 are males, with ages ranging from one day to 92 years.

The case count was made up of St Ann (16), St James (13), Kingston and St Andrew (11), Hanover (six), St Catherine (six), Westmoreland (five), St Thomas (three), Portland (three), St Mary (one), Clarendon (one), Manchester (one), and Trelawny (one).

There are 20 moderately ill patients, 14 severely ill patients, and 10 critically ill patients among 600 active cases now under observation in Jamaica.

A total of 137 COVID-19 patients are now hospitalised locally.
