The community of Sandy Bank in St Elizabeth is in shock after the brazen killing of a 28-year-old teacher at the entrance to the Sandy Bank Basic School on Tuesday morning.
The teacher has since been identified as Chanel Smith of Sandy Bank district.
Reports from the police are that about 7:55 am, Smith was walking towards the school’s entrance when two men, armed with guns, approached her and opened fire.
The police were summoned, and she was taken to the Black River Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The gunmen, who had allegedly been outside the school waiting on her, escaped on a motorcycle.
