No trace of missing baby in Negril ‘grave house’

An extensive search at a house in West End, Negril, Westmoreland, ended last week without any sign of three-year-old Orlandie Miller, who was believed to have been buried with her mother in a makeshift grave in the house.

The child and her mother, 24-year-old Shantel Dyer, went missing two months ago.

The mother’s body was found buried in the grave in the house, on Wednesday afternoon.

But continued and extensive searching in and around the house and the property in general, ended fruitless in respect of the police’s quest to find the remains of the child, who was presumed dead.

As a consequence, the ongoing investigations into the double disappearance will continue, but with the case of the child being treated as that of a missing person until further information is garnered.

However, the quest to locate a person of interest in relation to the case remains a high priority of the police.

Investigators have indicated that the man in question, who shared the premises where Dyer’s body was found, with the mother and child before their disappearance, left Jamaica for the United States on April 27.

Indications are that the police intend to draw on the support of US authorities in the effort to located and bring the person if interest back to Jamaica.
