Replacing a ‘lost’ visa

Q: I lost my passport that contained my valid United States (US) visa. What should I do to report the lost visa and how can I replace it?

A: We are sorry to hear you have lost your passport; we know that it is frustrating to have to deal with replacing documents. If your passport containing a US visa is lost or stolen, please start by contacting your local police station and obtaining a police report for the lost passport and visa.

You may then report the loss to our Consular Section via email at KingstonFPU@state.gov by attaching a lost/stolen visa reporting form, the police report, and a copy of your identification to your email. You may download a PDF version of the form from our website or request a copy by emailing the above mentioned address.

If you will be applying for a new visa immediately, you may also present the completed lost/stolen visas reporting form and a police report at the time of your interview. Please note that you will have to obtain a new passport, complete a new visa application, pay the application fee, and schedule an appointment in order to obtain a new visa.

It is important to note that once you have reported your passport and visa lost, they cannot be used to travel to the United States.

Even if you subsequently recover your documents, they can no longer be used for travel and you will not be able to board a flight for the US. So please do let us know if your documents are lost, but be sure to search well first!

You can find more information about how to travel to the US on the embassy’s website at kingston.usembassy.gov and the website of our authorised service provider at usvisa-info.com.
