KINGSTON, Jamaica – Commissioner of Police Dr Carl Williams on Tuesday expressed shock at the murder of district constable Ashley Howard on Tuesday, October 13.

A news release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate communications Unit said Dr Williams strongly condemned the actions of those responsible, and warned that the police would do everything in their power to bring his killer/s to justice.

He has also extended his deepest condolences to the relatives, friends and colleagues of district constable Howard.

Howard was reportedly shot by gunmen on Slipe Road, Cross Roads in Kingston 5 about 8:30 am, and later died at hospital.

“Criminals seem to feel empowered as they snuff out the lives of innocent Jamaican citizens and launch repeated violent attacks on the members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force,” said Dr Williams.

“These attacks are a constant reminder to us as Jamaicans to unite and help in the fight against crime, rather than constantly discouraging law enforcement officers and other members of the security forces from performing their lawful duties,” Dr Williams added.

District constable Howard, who was attached to the Transport and Maintenance Management Division, served the JCF for more than four years.

The CCU release also reminded family members and friends of wrongdoers that it is an offence to harbour criminals.
