The trial of the three Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldiers accused of the murder of Chartered Accountant, Keith Clarke, is scheduled to start on Monday in the Home Circuit Court.
However, RJR News understands that attorneys for the soldiers have written to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), requesting a delay of the trial pending the completion of the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry. It is not known whether the DPP will accede to the request.
Clarke was shot dead by members of the security forces in May 2010, when they went to his Kirkland Heights, St. Andrew house in search of Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.
The JDF said it raided Clarke’s house based on intelligence that Coke may have been hiding there. Clarke’s wife and daughter have sued the State seeking millions of dollars in damages for his death.
